Exploring the association between changes in neural connectivity and cognitive function in older adults: A UK Biobank study

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between changes in cognitive performance and alterations in neural connectivity in older adults using a cohort from the UK Biobank. We categorized participants into cognitive decliners and positive agers, assessing fluid intelligence, reaction time, prospective memory, and trail-making tests against resting state functional MRI data. We identified significant associations between neural connectivity changes in 21 analyzed components and corresponding cognitive performance shifts across these testing domains.
